Caregivers

The Government of Canada offers the option of applying for permanent residence as a Caregiver. If you are a professional Caregiver, then there are three paths that are available to you:

  • Caring for Children Program: This option is available for caregivers who have provided full-time child care in a home in Canada for at least two years.
  • Live-In Caregiver Program: This option is available for caregivers who have obtained work experience under Canada's Live-In Caregiver Program. Such applicants are eligible for permanent residence if they have: i) 24 months of authorized full-time live-in employment, or ii) 3,900 hours of authorized full-time employment (which must be completed within a minimum of 22 months, and may include up to 390 hours of overtime). In both cases, the relevant work experience must be acquired within four years of your date of arrival.
  • Caring for People With High Medical Needs Program: This option is available for caregivers who have been working in Canada for at least two years as a: i) Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse, ii) Nurse Aid or Orderly, or iii) Home Support Worker.

If you are a caregiver who wants to begin a new life in Canada, whether alone or with your family, CanadaPass is here to provide all the legal support you need. Our staff will help you complete, review, prepare and submit your application package, while also advising and accompanying you throughout the immigration process until you are completely settled and thoroughly satisfied.
